You and Your Family
Sensible advice for sensible people
Everyone needs legal advice at some stage in their lives. We like to establish relationships with our clients where you can feel confident that whatever legal issues arise, we can look after you in a way which makes things straightforward and easy to understand.
Here are some of the many types of cases we deal with:
Wills
If you have a young family, you need a will that sets out what will happen if you or your partner dies. What would happen if you and your spouse both died? Who would look after your children’s interests? A will sets out what is to happen to your property and your children after your death.
Enduring Powers of Attorney
What would happen if you became either so physically or mentally unwell that you couldn’t look after your own affairs? This often happens after an accident or serious illness. An Enduring Power of Attorney appoints someone to act on your behalf and avoids the legal stalemate that could occur whereby you would have to be made a Ward of Court.
Buying and selling property
If you’re wondering about whether you might sell and downsize, come in and have a chat with us. We act for clients buying and selling property in Ireland for thirty five years and can provide you with very good advice on property and mortgages. We also deal with the leasing of property.
Accidents
We all hope we can avoid accidents but what happens when they do occur? You want sound, sensible advice from the start. If you have a case, we’ll tell you. If you don’t, we’ll tell you that too. But more importantly, we’ll advise you in a general way about things you need to consider.
Deaths/Estates
When someone dies, their assets are frozen and released only when the High Court issues a “Grant of Probate” to authorise their release in accordance with their will. In a simple estate, this can be straightforward but in more complex cases (particularly where there is property), you will need someone to give you good advice and look after the paperwork for you. It is especially important that you have calm, considered advice particularly if there are any family disputes.
Cohabitants and same sex partnerships
This is a new and very important area of the law. It provides for the registration of civil partnerships for same sex couples. Of even more importance is its effect where two people live together. If you have children and have been living together for two years (or five years without children) very serious legal implications can arise.
Family law
Unfortunately, some marriages break down and whether it is your own marriage or that of your children, you need sound legal advice. Our job is to make things as clear as we can and help negotiate the difficulties that can arise regarding financial matters, access and custody of children, pension issues and property issues.
Employment advice
Know where you stand. If you work outside the home, you spend much of life at work and uncertainty or difficulties at work can be very stressful.
We are very experienced in employment law matters and can help you work out what is the best solution for you.
If you have queries on any of the issues above, contact us by phone or email.

I am really pleased to recommend Niall Farrell. Working on behalf of the Sisters of Mercy during the past four years I have found Niall to be efficient, solution orientated and very accurate in dealing with some extremely complicated title to property. His availability to us as clients, despite a busy practice, both pleases and amazes me.
- Sr. Anne Doyle
"The service was very good. Whenever I had a query it was dealt with promptly. It was great that most of it could be done via email as it's not always easy to go to the office in person."
How likely on a scale of one to ten would you be to recommend us to others? "10."
-Margaret McLoughlin, conveyancing client.
